Bob Jones completed the 2016 season with a 7-4 record. With their 5-2 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 7A region four, the Patriots earned a spot in the playoffs in 2016. Bob Jones's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Hoover by a score of 31-10. The Patriots lost as many games as in any season since 2008. The Patriots open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Central Phenix City on Friday, August 25 at Garrett-Harrison Stadium. Last year the Central Phenix City Red Devils finished with an overall record of 10-2 and in first place in Class 7A region two. The Red Devils lost in the semi-finals round of the Class 7A playoffs to McGill-Toolen by a score of 35-21. This will be the second meeting between Bob Jones and Central Phenix City on the football field. The Patriots have a 0-1-0 record against the Red Devils.
